Smiggin Holes is situated within the Perisher resort area. Located on the right when accessing from Jindabyne, it provides the perfect family ski area. Sitting at 1,680 metres above sea level, Smiggin Holes was established in 1939. The name ‘Smiggin Holes’ is of Scottish origin. The trampling of hundreds of cattle consuming rock salt that graziers had placed there, caused depressions that filled with water. These depressions were called ‘the smiggin holes’.

Resort
Perisher resort (previously known as Perisher Blue) is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere, and is made up of four distinct areas. Perisher Valley, is the most commonly known area, allowing visitors access to the ski areas of Smiggin Holes, Blue Cow and Guthega. Each area showing off the beautiful Kosciusko National Park to all those who venture here each Winter.
